However, coach Cristian Chivu and his staff rejected the goalkeeper option, maintaining their confidence in Josep Martínez and preferring to use the available budget on other targets. Curtis Jones was reportedly identified as Chivu’s priority, leading Inter to focus their resources on the former Liverpool midfielder and on signing a replacement for Denzel Dumfries, eventually bringing in Spence.
