CaughtOffside reports that Newcastle United and Aston Villa are expected to renew their interest in Bayer Leverkusen forward Christian Kofane during the January transfer window. Both clubs pursued the Cameroon international in the summer but failed to complete a deal.
Update (X – @Plettigoal): Sky Sport Germany reports that Bayer Leverkusen want to extend Christian Kofane’s contract by two years, potentially keeping the striker at the club until 2031. Negotiations are currently stalling, however, with the 20-year-old reportedly unhappy about his role as the second-choice forward behind Patrik Schick. Premier League clubs are also said to be interested in Kofane, while the player is keen to play in England at some stage of his career. The report does not indicate that an agreement has been reached, leaving both a possible renewal and a future move unresolved.
