Genoa consider François Modesto for chief of football role

Advanced

Genoa are considering François Modesto for the club’s chief of football position, according to Matteo Moretto, who confirms an advance from Il Secolo XIX. Giovanni Rossi is also reportedly still in contention for the role. Modesto most recently worked as technical director at Juventus, where he handled relations between the coaching staff and squad and contributed to several incoming and outgoing market operations. His previous experience includes winning four league titles and a domestic cup as Olympiakos’ technical director. He has also worked at Nottingham Forest and Monza during Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani’s tenure.

Update (Calciomercato.com): Calciomercato.com, citing Sky Sport, reports that Genoa are preparing a major change in their sporting structure. Diego Lopez is reportedly close to leaving his sporting director role, with a contract termination and a move to Burnley both described as increasingly likely. Genoa are therefore targeting a two-man replacement consisting of Stefano Melissano and François Modesto, who have allegedly moved ahead of former Sassuolo executive Giovanni Rossi. Melissano would become sporting director, while Modesto would take on the role of Chief of Football. Modesto recently left Juventus, while Melissano has previously worked with Lecce, Fiorentina and Spezia.
