Calciomercato.com reports that Leonardo Balerdi was considered by several Serie A clubs, including Juventus, before joining Roma in the summer. The Argentine defender has since become one of the club’s major additions and scored twice in Roma’s 3-3 draw at Napoli. Former Juventus striker Fabrizio Ravanelli had previously recommended Balerdi to the club and discussed the player with Luciano Spalletti during a tour in Australia. Ravanelli said the coach also liked the defender, while praising Roma for completing the signing. Ravanelli had worked at Marseille as an institutional and sporting consultant, linking him to the club during that period.
